Chilham
The village of Chilham is in the valley of the Great Stour River and six miles southwest of Canterbury. It is centred on a market square, where a traditional annual May Day is celebrated. At each end of the square are its major buildings which include Chilham Castle and a 15th century parish church. It has been claimed that the remains of Thomas Becket was buried in the churchyard.
The Square is part of the Pilgrims Way and where Alison spoke to Polly about the Glue Man.

The boy's river battle took place next to the mill. Originally an iron breast shot wheel inside the mill worked six pairs of stones on the second floor. It was converted to steam in the 19th century when the mill pond was infilled. The chimney has since been demolished.

Taylors Hill reminds us of Charing Street where the Glue Man was chased.
